Where To Stay In Nha Trang

This might be an unpopular opinion but Stew and I loved Nha Trang. We’ve visited there twice.

In 2019/20 we cycled from the UK to Vietnam. When our plans were suddenly halted we packed up our boxes and left Nha Trang with tears in our eyes. In 2023 things were completely different. We were tired, but getting back to Nha Trang marked the beginning of phase two of our adventure and it felt so good to be back.

With the sea breeze in our hair, we strolled around Nha Trang in 26 degrees. It was a dream come true. After three years of impatiently waiting, the trip was back on the road!

We managed to stay in the exact apartment block we booked in 2020 which was brilliant! We’ve also stayed and explored other hotels in Nha Trang and in this guide I’m giving you our best recommendations.

You can trust us. We only recommend places we’ve stayed in or physically visited.

Best Apartment in Nha Trang for a Sea View

Price: £11 – £20/night

Gold Beach Apartment, Nha Trang

This is the second apartment we stayed in, in 2023.

This is the exact apartment building that Stew and I stayed in, in 2020 and 2023. Since we ended phase one of our trip in this building we wanted to start the second phase in the same place. I wasn’t lucky enough to snag the exact same room, but we were on the same floor and a just few doors away.

Here’s Stew at the Gold Beach Apartment at the end of the phase one adventure in 2020 (cycling UK to Vietnam). He was packing up our bike boxes. And on the right, Stew at the beginning of the phase two trip (cycling from Vietnam to the UK) with the bikes in boxes after we flew to Ho Chi Minh.

The apartment block was a whopping 41 floors and we stayed on floor 39. It takes a full 90 seconds to get from the ground floor to the 39th floor. There are three lifts total and it doesn’t get that too busy at the bottom. You might have to wait a short time to grab an empty lift but it really isn’t too bad. The lifts are pretty big too, we managed to get two bikes, eight panniers and two four humans in there! Without bikes, the lift probably takes at least ten adults.

The beach views from the sea-view apartments are gorgeous. Both of our apartments had a bed right next to that sea view window so you wake up to glorious blue skies with the sun beaming across the bluest ocean.

There’s a little shop at the base of the apartment block where you can buy the essentials like water. You’re literally a stone’s throw from the beach and a short walk from gorgeous restaurants, supermarkets and more.

There is one thing: this is a budget apartment. It’s not immaculately clean, but it is clean enough. The apartment, even on the 39th floor, seems to have a bit of an ant problem, but to be honest these types of ‘issues’ are common in budget accommodation in Vietnam. We’ve stayed in plenty of other places just like this.

Both apartments we stayed in had a fully functioning washing machines. There was a stove, microwave and a rice cooker. The rice cooker didn’t actually have a plug in the second apartment though…

I wouldn’t say the kitchen is well stocked, but there’s enough. You’ll have enough to cook a meal if you wanted to but the food around you is so cheap you’ll probably be eating out anyway.

If you’re backpacking or cycling and you want something cheap, but kinda fancy looking with the sea view, then this is for you but if you want to relax into luxury, try the hotel in the next section.

Hotels if You’re Travelling With a Bigger Budget

Best for: those looking for a proper spoil

Vinpearl Condotel, Beachfront, Nha Trang

We didn’t stay here, but we did spend hours in the hotel’s Starbucks which shares the hotel facilities. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous. The reception is bright and sparkling clean. The staff are polite and attentive and keep up with the cleaning of the facilities.

The hotel is situated on the beachfront, literally across the road. Like the apartment recommendation above the Vinpearl Condotel is storeys high so you’d get stunning sea views there, too.

The reviews on booking.com are exceptional. It’s rated overall with 8.4 and you can see that all sorts of travellers have stayed in the hotel, from solo travellers to parents with children.

The Vinpearl is actually quite close to the apartment I shared above so you can easily find the same restaurants and supermarkets close by. There is a Western-style supermarket where Stew and I did our shopping, too.

Budget Hotels

Price: from £11/night
What we liked about it: it’s a cheap bed!
Best for: budget travel

If you want a really cheap hotel, then we’ve got you! Stew and I stayed at CR Hotel. You can find it on the map at the end of this blog, but unfortunately, they’re not taking bookings right now. No doubt, you could roll up to the hotel and book in person though.

Our memory of the CR Hotel is a little hazy since we stayed in 2020 and didn’t take any pictures. From memory, we went here first just to keep the trip budget down a little.

We do remember that the hotel was really small! From memory, our bikes stayed in reception because the room was tiny.

In Nha Trang, you really won’t spend a lot of time in your hotel anyway. With the sea breeze, it’s a few degrees cooler than Ho Chi Minh so much more bearable to walk about. Plus, there are loads to see or do in Nha Trang. You can just rest on the beach with a cocktail which is way more appealing than the four walls of your hotel.

Next to CR Hotel, there’s a little cafe called Everyday where you can grab some cheap food. We are there a couple of times.

Nha Trang is a popular destination for travellers. We really loved it. There are tonnes of hotels so have a good explore of all your options.
