Staying With Liam And Danielle

Back when we were in Vietnam on the first phase of the trip (pre-covid), Liam got in touch. He said he was in Australia and his dad was in Perth. If we wanted somewhere to stay when we arrived, Liam was happy to host us.

It was such a wonderful offer! As we got back on our second trip, Liam got in touch again. It turns out he had moved to Aus, and married his lovely partner, Danielle.

Liam and Danielle took the best care of us. Bearing in mind, Liam and I went to school together and we hadn’t seen each other for sixteen years, yet the meeting was so easy. The conversation flowed and we had a blast.

Our weekend together was such a lot of fun, and I left their house feeling – I was going to say fully recharged – and if not for the two bottles of wine around their fire pit two nights before we had to ride again – that would’ve been true haha.

But, in all seriousness, I did feel recharged, mentally and physically, and absolutely pumped to get on the bike and ride some big days across Australia.

During our time in Perth with Liam and Danielle, we visited

– King’s Park

– Caversham Wildlife Park

– The beach

– The bottle store 😵

We also set up our bikes in their garden.

On the penultimate night, Danielle suggested that instead of going out for dinner, we (and I quote), ‘have a charcuterie board around the firepit and drink a bottle of wine each.’

We all laughed and decided that was more soulful than a restaurant…what we weren’t expecting was a 3 am bedtime after 6 bottles of wine and several bottles of beer and Jack Daniels. Plus, a catch-up with BBC Radio Shropshire!

Needless to say, there were some sore heads the next day 😂

We were so in the moment that we barely took any photos of us! By the time we thought about it around the fire pit it was dark and we were bottles in 🤦🏽‍♀️🤣 (scroll for a dark pic).
