Three Lovely People We Met Yesterday
Here are 3 lovely people we met yesterday. In order of images: Dana, Severin and Chantal.
Dana was our host for two nights. We stayed in her apartment as we enjoyed Cres. Dana was one of those people who obviously loved to host! Sometimes I do wonder how much profit some people make from renting their apartments/homes particularly on Airbnb.
Anyway, Dana allowed us to book her home at very short notice , literally 20 minutes! On arrival we were presented with biscuits and a bottle of wine. When we left she gave us a fridge magnet with a beautiful picture of Cres. I’ve really loved Cres so that will take prize position in my home…when we get one again!!
Severin was a solo traveller who we met climbing a 10% hill to the ferry port near Cres! I was a few metres behind Stew so I cycled with Severin for a while as we exchanged stories about where we were heading. It nearly killed me keeping up with him, it was so hot, but it was nice to chat. When we stopped for a break with Stew I was the sweatiest I’ve been! Severin was a good cyclist! He had entered Croatia after cycling in Slovenia. He was riding solo for 3 months before he had to head home.
We met Chantal as we were boarding the ferry to Rab. She caught our eye before we’d spoken because her bike was LOADED! It looked very cool and I was impressed she was managing the mountains on it – she certainly was though; 4 says ago Chantal was camping in SNOW! She’s braver than me!
Chantal has started cycling from Germany with a friend but he headed home after 2 weeks leaving Chantal to ride solo. She said cycling with someone made her cycle further (100km/day) but now she’s doing less miles. Chantal was on her way to Istanbul taking the scenic route, through the mountains. As we met her she was thinking about resting in Croatia and doing her Scuba Diving training!
She told us about an app called polar steps which we’ll look into, I think it tracks your route via GPS. Has anyone here used it?
