The End Of The Flat Lands

We’ve barely cycled a hill since we left Vietnam. Back in Asia we just weren’t fit enough for it so took flatter routes to cycle ourselves in to this adventure.

Aus is a largely flat country so it hadn’t really challenged us… that was until today.

The hill out of Adelaide was steep and looong! I was pushing my bike uphill and cursing myself for lugging a bottle of wine with me 😂 I did contemplate chucking it out a couple times, but wine is precious cargo and I was getting it to our next stop if it killed me 🥂

I’ll tell you what though, the climb was so much easier for the location. We entered Australia’s green zone, hills and gorgeous green trees. It was really lovely and the beginning of what’s to come.

Aus is fascinating really. It’s just such a big country that you’ll find every sort of weather and varying landscapes all in one place. On our trip we met people in the West who were from the East and even they were amazed by the differences.

As we cycled into Adelaide, I received a contact form on our website from a long standing follower. She was checking in as we hadn’t posted for so long (felt terrible about that!) and also checking that we hadn’t ridden the highway to Adelaide … which of course, we had 😬

The message was from Judith and her husband, Doug. They wanted to know if were passing their home. It turned out we weren’t but we were fairly close. Judith asked if we wanted to meet as she and Doug would happily drive out to meet us.

Judith offered a lunch meeting on them. We happily obliged…
