Our Portugal Adventures Were Short And Sweet!
We had only three cycling days as we’re making tracks East.
Being back in Europe is just incredible. It just feels like *home* which is not what I expected from Portugal.
Home is England, but when you’ve been out of your own continent for so long, Europe feels like home. I didn’t expect it since the language and culture is so different, but elements of it are so similar to what I’m used to.
To be honest, a lot of the feeling of home comes from the weather lol, it’s just so lovely being cool. That cold, fresh air is perfection.

We stop for bus stop lunches and Lidl picnics and I remember cycling through Europe in 2019 as if it were yesterday.
The cycling is dreamy with great etiquette on the road. I’m way less tense and anxious.
Throughout this entire trip I’ve not really found another place I could call home. And being back in Europe after 13 months away allows me to see it in a whole new light.
When we returned after the first half of the trip, I saw the colours in the greenery differently, the light green and orange colours that you just don’t see in Asia or South America.
This time, I see the old towns, the historic architecture, and cobbled streets, and I adore it. I saw it before, but now I really see it.
Europe, definitely my favourite of the four continents we’ve cycled across.

The history and culture has to be amazing … would love to experience it one day.
Doug and I see it on the ‘Tours’ and of course he’s been and loves yo share his experiences, never stops talking about it when we are hovering in a helicopter above some historical castle or town.
