We Just Circumnavigated The World

Well… we did it.

After more than five years, two phases, a pandemic detour, one elopement, and about 24,000 miles cycled—we rolled into Paris.

And just like that, we completed our circumnavigation of the world. By bike.

We made our way to the Arc de Triomphe—our official finish line. It was wild seeing it again, after all these years. The last time we were here we were celebrating our first anniversary… this time, we were wrapping up a global adventure.

Standing under the arch, waiting for us, was my brother. He made the trip to Paris to witness the final few pedal strokes. It meant the world.

We gave him the biggest hugs, parked the bikes, and just stood there for a moment, soaking it all in.

Then, of course, we went to find a drink.

It’s hard to really summarise or even describe the feeling at the end really, it was certainly one of relief but also a little surreal. This journey has occupied a significant portion of our lives and it was now over.

How do you sum up this kind of journey? You don’t, really.

But Paris—five years later—felt like the perfect full circle. 🥂
