Next Stop Europe!
Our holiday in Rio De Janeiro came to an end. We ordered a mini bus for three people, two bike boxes, and three large luggage bags.
Excessive, but it got us all in one taxi before we said our goodbye, this time just for two months, maybe less. Adam might join us again in Paris.
We had 4pm-ish flights so we started the day with a stroll on the beach and a final, delicious açai bowel.
📸 Pic four is actually from our second day but it’s my favourite picture of the trip. Just pure candid joy.
The taxi driver, Agostinho (man on the left, second picture) was EXCEPTIONAL.
When we ordered our taxi we needed the assurance we’d get a big enough vehicle. When we got to the airport we expected to be dropped off and left to it, but that’s not what happened.
Agostinho collected a trolley for us, helped us load it up, pulled out luggage straps and kept our luggage secure, took us into the airport, waited as we weighed our luggage, then gave us instruction on where to find our check-in. He would’ve come with us to check in but we felt he’d done enough!
We had one final drink and the day was done.
We flew to Lisbon, and Adam to London.

Being in europe meant I could use my SIM card from home
or so I thought…
I’d topped it up and used it to book our taxi at 5am, from the airport to our airbnb.
One taxi dropped us off and we unloaded all our stuff into the street. I called our airbnb host who agreed a 6am check in (bless her soul!) She assured me she’d be there in 10.
10 minutes passed, then 20.
I realised then that my sim card didn’t work as expected and we couldn’t get back in touch with our host and she couldn’t get in touch with us 😬
I had the sense to think we were on the wrong street.
The taxi driver had taken us to number 65, but on the wrong street. Luckily we were on the next street up, we lugged our bags, perhaps 80+ kg to the correct address, and as she promised, there she was.
We checked in and fell asleep for four hours.
We are in EUROPE. The air was crisp, fresh, cold. We are home.
