Meeting Up With Friends From Shrewsbury
Just outside of Wellington we had three friends from home in Shrewsbury.
Roy who we met for dinner on our touristy day around Wellington.
And Graeme and Michelle who kindly hosted us for quite a few nights! They had invited us to stay a couple night, then Michelle offered us to join their Halloween party if we wanted to stay longer. Never one to turn down a good time, we stayed extra and partied until 3am! 😁
It was a great evening, we dressed up, met many of their friends, played beer pong and drank wine (way too much wine.)
The party theme was ‘danger danger.’ We went as a witch and a gandalf-ish wizard. I can’t say I’ve got involved with Halloween since I was a teen so it was actually really fun to dress up. I was most impressed with the DIY and creative costumes. If I go to a halloween party again, I’m getting creative!
Outside of party planning, and partying, we explored the surrounding areas with Graeme and their lovely daughter, Callie. One day there was a little village/town festival (not sure what to call it) local businesses were out with food stalls, markets and music. It was a lovely vibe! The town was just on the outskirts of Wellington; a really perfect location for small town vibes with a big city just a few train stops away.
At home we chilled, did some work, ate dinners together and played board games.
It was a really wholesome week. Proper nice to catch up with friends who are absolutely thriving. It was really lovely to meet them as a family (we’d not met Callie before) and take in their peaceful and wholesome home for a few days. We felt right at home.
We were planning to leave them the day after the party but let’s just say I had rather a persistent hangover that would not allow me to cycle…🤢
Totally worth it.
