Meeting Emma And Debbie
Well, we have done a proper injustice catching this day in photos because we stayed with a Warmshowers and had an absolutely cracking time!
I suppose that’s what it was: we were having way too much fun to even think about the camera.
Like Kerry, our Warmshowers hosts, Emma and Debbie, had accommodated my migraine and our delayed arrival.
Because we arrived late, we were arriving on a day when E & D were not expecting to host. They had a dinner planned with friends. Instead of turning us away, they invited us!
We went to their friends’ house and we met two of their lovely friends and we shared sushi, a delicious desert, and we bought wine.
Debbie used to live in Japan and assured us the food was very authentic.
It was definitely delicious!
On route to their friends’ home, we took a lil detour and went to Huka Falls. We did get pics here!
I should’ve mentioned, we stayed with Emma and Debbie in Taupo and to get to their home we took their recommended cycle path that took us around the lake. It was lovely and felt more like a beach vibe with people swimming and having picnics etc. We could not have asked for a better day.
E & D were two people who Stew and I clicked with straight away and I love it when that happens. It turns out that Emma and Debbie are off on a bike tour of their own soon. They were in the process of planning it and will be in the UK but the time we get back so I’m hoping we can catch them there, too.
Kindly, Emma also offered us a host at her mums which was a few miles in the right direction. We accepted! But sadly Stew got a bit unwell and naturally we didn’t want to take a cold there. We got an AirBnB where we could hunker down without disturbing anyone instead. The cold has not yet reached me and as I’m writing this we’ve got 7 days before we fly so I’m praying I don’t get it!
