Bangkok, Thailand
Bangkok city is a diverse place, to put it politely.
In summary, since the summary is more suitable than my initial analysis: if you’re looking for a drug and alcohol fueled binge, loud cars, thumping music, prostitute’s, massages, lady boys, happy endings and ping-pong shows then Bangkok might be for you.
In all seriousness Bangkok’s freedom surprised us after being in Asia and the above wasn’t for us. 😬 we didn’t enjoy that side of Bangkok but I suspect the culture shock and the first new year in 3 or 4 years played into that.
But, Bangkok does, of course, offer more than the above.
In general, Bangkok is one of the cleanest cities we’ve visited in SEA. At night it lights up beautifully, as seen in the first image, which doesn’t do this temple justice.
There are temples and Buddhas to explore and we found great pleasure wondering the streets of Bangkok and exploring markets.
We stayed in Chinatown and found ourselves surrounded by delicious Chinese food which was a plus for us since we *loved* the food in China.
I personally would not return to Bangkok. We booked 4 nights and I wished it was 2. Other travellers love it so much they’ll stay for a fortnight. To each their own 😅
