West Highland Way – Day 7

And just like that it’s over. ⁣

🥾 104 miles (167kms) hiked with our heavy bags⁣
⛰ 11,897 feet (3,600metres) climbed ⁣
🗓 7 days walking⁣
☀️ 4 days of decent weather ⁣
🌧 3 days of heavy rain ⁣
🏕 2 x wild camps ⁣
⛺️ 1 x campsite ⁣
🌟 1 x glamping pod
🏨 3 hotels / guesthouses

100 miles ago I would’ve told you that West Highland Way would have been one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but honestly, it isn’t even close.⁣

It is however one of the most enjoyable, and most fulfilling things I have ever done. It’s accessible to many, and on the doorstep to those of you in the U.K. and I highly, highly recommend it.⁣

Today we walked 16 miles in some pretty questionable weather! One moment it was bright blue skies, the next it was throwing it down!

Today I experienced the worst 1 mile ever (I’ll tell you about that another time!) but it was, in joint first place with day 6 as one of the the most beautiful hiking days ever, even with grey skies. ⁣

We walked into Fort William super-super tired from the previous 7 days. We found a lovely guest house with a lakeside view and the bed is super comfy!

We never expected to finish a day early so we’ll be enjoying Fort William tomorrow. Ben Nevis is 80% chance of snow with -3 temperatures feeling like -7 with 35mph/50km/h winds, so with some reluctance we’ll be giving that a miss. @theweegiewheeler suggests we visit a whisky distillery, which sounds good to us! 🥃 ⁣
