The Great Wall Of China

Arriving at the Great Wall was an emotional experience. Everything flooding in at once – the excitement of it, the scale of the trip, the gratitude to Stew for organising our world cycling tour. ⁣

The fact that I was now travelling the world by bicycle, living in a dream world. Sharing the journey with Stew; my best friend and boyfriend all in one amazing, adventurous, lovely human-being who I can’t get enough of.⁣

Life is good and I know I’m incredibly lucky.⁣

I once dreamed of travelling the world, but for various reasons I accepted it would never happen. I’m not a good solo-traveller, I didn’t manage my money well enough to afford it, I didn’t have any definitive goals on WHERE I’d go. I guess I was, in some ways spoilt for choice. ⁣

I’d said, in the past that I’d go “anywhere”. This has frustrated some people, but my reason for this was that how can you pick a place, based on what? Assumptions, other people’s stories etc. I wanted to go “anywhere” so that I could experience places for myself.⁣

Is my thought process unique? Most people have a list of some kind don’t they?⁣

Could Stew’s dream of cycling around the world be anymore perfect?⁣

I don’t know what to think about meetings like ours, but I’m so glad I met Stew. We discuss the chances that came to play to enable our meeting – we both love cycling, we both worked in the same place, we both loved the idea of travel, neither of us are afraid of risk. We can both put our heads together and save money (I learned!). ⁣

We both took a leap of faith on the trip and in each other. 2 months into our relationship we committed to throwing caution to the wind – quitting our jobs and travelling the world together by bicycle.⁣ We’ve been together 20 months now. 🥰
