Skopje, North Macedonia
WiFi has been a bit naff lately so I haven’t managed to upload these videos and images from yesterday! I was so happy in this video, so I’ve uploaded it even if it is a smidge late 💁🏽♀️ We arrived in Skopje yesterday, what a fantastic city! There’s a lot to do here, so Skopje, we will return! Travelling on a budget means you have to pick the places to spend your money and you just can’t see every city in all its glory, however walking around Skopje was a treat. There are fantastic statues and for longer stays there are plenty of museums. The sun was shining so we enjoyed the city pushing our bikes!
The weather took a turn and the thunder rumbled! We headed for shelter and WiFi at a bakery while it poured with rain! We had to find somewhere to stay. Lately our hotels have been booked very last minute – on the day about an hour before checking in! By chance we’ve lucked out and found good places at cheap prices.
Pictured, see the lovely tour guide who stopped us and gave us some great tips! He recorded himself on my phone so we could follow his itinerary. One of the places he suggested we visit was Lake Ohrid – I am so sad to report we just can’t make this Lake but we’ve been told to go by at least 5 people! As I say, you just can’t see it all. Perhaps his itinerary will include some Bulgarian treats!
We’ve shortened our itinerary in Macedonia so we can press on with the trip after Stew’s injury. We are pushing to get to Istanbul by the 29th so we can meet our mothers and my brother! Can’t wait to see them 🙂
