Salon Blonde, Hanoi

You know how sometimes you can just walk into a place and feel right at home? Well that is exactly how I felt in Salon Blonde, 32 Lạc chinh, Hanoi.⁣

I hate having my hair cut by anyone who isn’t Kim (my best friend and hair dresser), but the 10,000 miles between us making a hair cut impossible!⁣

I braved my first cut in Georgia then today I had to go for a second and I’m still not comfortable! I was thinking about waiting until I got to Australia, so I could find an English speaker, but Hanoi has really surprised me – lots of people speak English here!⁣

Not only that, Vietnamese women definitely take great pride in their appearance. Salons and beauticians are EVERYWHERE. Even in the villages. We have cycled and walked past so many – you’re never far away from somewhere offering some kind of beauty treatment. ⁣

Salon Blonde was highly recommended in a Facebook group so I went for it. I messaged Mitch on Facebook messenger and after our conversation I felt relaxed about going there. ⁣

I had an appointment two days later (due to New Year) and was greeted warmly! Mitch was was able to translate what I wanted to Tung who cut and styled me hair beautifully.⁣

I loved being in the salon, I found Mitch great to talk to, he’s a really warm person; very welcoming and had some cool stories to share!⁣

Tung is a great stylist he took a great deal of care cutting my hair, he was very conscientious and focused. ⁣

Before the cut I had a hair wash and head massage which was so nice! You know in the UK you usually have those chairs? They always really hurt my neck, but in Vietnam it’s common to lie down while you have your hair washed – best thing ever! ⁣

My only wish is that I had an excuse to see them again! Honestly, if ever I visit Hanoi I’d get my hair cut here again just to enjoy their company for a second time.⁣

It’s not that often you connect with someone so well in such a short time.⁣
