Meeting Friends In Kuala Lumpur
Today we met @elenatengku, her daughter and sister. We had a fabulous morning. We met at the famous Petronas Twin Towers (second picture).
We got acquainted on Instagram just as Stew and I explored south Thailand and geared up for our 24th country by bike, Malaysia, which of course, is where our new friends live.
She’d actually been following for as long as the first phase of our trip, back in Central Asia, I think, when a mutual Insta-fave, @1bike1world mentioned us in a story. The world is a small place!
As we explored Malaysia we spoke a lot on Instagram with @elenatengku who told us the must-try dishes and shared some must-stops along our route. We’ve had a giggle at our perceptions of this new country and learned a few things along the way.
Interestingly, @elenatengku has studied in the U.K., in Manchester, which is one of our nearest big cities to where we live in Shropshire. Weird we’ve been so close, twice. She also studied in Australia and has done a lot of travelling, in fact her whole family have seen every corner of the world 😄
We had coffee and cake together that was kindly bought for us, and it was a lovely, lovely morning.
I actually forgot just how nice Instagram was, you know. I stopped posting after our trip because I find social media can be quite invasive on your everyday life, but when I get back into the habits of using social media I am reminded of just how special – and social – it can be ❤️
