JOGLE Day 9: Gretna Green To Kendal
Gretna Green to Kendal
This morning was exceptionally organised. We ate breakfast at 8am because we wanted an early start. The aim of the day was to get to a pub and watch the game! We planned to go through Shap at 2-3 and watch it there, but once we got there we decided we could probably blast it and get to Kendal in good time. In fairness we did make it and heard the first goal go in, but it’s obviously quite a football-town as the pubs were quite rowdy!
We decided to check in and made it to the pub for the second half! Both enjoyed a beverage and watched England qualify for the semi-finals!!
Crossing the border into England was pretty cool – I can’t believe how quickly the time has gone. We’re halfway already and I feel like I could go on doing this forever!
The route was lovely today, a couple of decent climbs but so worth it for the stunning views of Penrith. The farmland is absolutely pristine here – lovely walls across the land. We stopped to take some photos but due to the cloud it just hasn’t done it justice – the views were stunning.
Guess what we’re doing tomorrow – big fat nothing!!! If anyone wants us we’ll be in the pool, the pub or sleeping!!

Yep – looks like this is the same route as I’ve got planned. Wow – leaving Scotland is half way through the trip? I hadn’t realised.
I had no idea either! You’ll appreciate how large Scotland is for sure.
