Exploring Venice
For the last 2 days we’ve had a little break. Yesterday we spent the day totally chilled and today we explored Venice.
What a beautiful place it is.
This experience is a real treat for me, I’d given up on the dream to travel long ago and I was quite happy with that. Then Stew came along and presented me with a mighty life-plot-twist and I couldn’t be happier.
We’ve cycled to Venice.
Not only have we explored a place we’ve always wanted to see, we have powered ourselves here, over 1500 miles by bicycle. It still surprises me to think about it.
Having dreamed of visiting Venice for many years I was expecting to be slightly disappointed; I had high expectations.
Venice did not disappoint. It is beautiful. I loved taking the river boat from Ferrovia to San Marco. I had no idea what Venice was really like – yes I knew there was lots of water but I really didn’t know that boat was the main form of transport! Ambulances, police and deliveries all use the water.
After our boat ride we dawdled back from San Marco at a relaxed pace stopping for snacks on the way.
Unlike our day in Paris we didn’t have a plan or a list of places to see. We just wanted to get lost in Venice, take it easy and enjoy it.
A beautiful place and surprisingly well priced for 2 poor travellers. We had a wonderful day.
Tomorrow we make tracks to Slovenia!! I think we will make it to Slovenia on Sunday!
After Slovenia we still have 21 counties left to visit.
There’s nothing better than being out there exploring the world and seeing what it’s really like. This is living.
