Cromwell To Wanaka

With the views between Cromwell and Wanaka being so similar to the day before, I nearly didn’t write a post, but then I thought, who doesn’t want to see these pictures?!

After the haste of getting out of Aus on time and the logistics of managing cycling, working and a short visa for the distance, it felt so good to be in New Zealand with a full six months to cover, I dunno, forty days of riding.

We stopped a lot, took photographs, soaked in the view and it felt so good to have time on our side.

See the path, where Zoe is stood on her bike, in front of the houses? This place was gorgeous, it looked like something out of a book, BUT there was something a bit eerie about it; there was no one there. Not a soul except a robot grass mower that did make it feel a bit black mirror.

The place was pristine, but the houses were all empty.

My best guess is that this area is expensive to live in and houses only holiday homes for the rich. I can’t think why else somewhere so beautiful could be so empty.

I didn’t mention in the post previous, but the wind has been quite a challenge the last couple days. I start to wonder if we’ll be able to keep riding into the strong headwind.
