Weather Warnings In Wanaka

We planned to stay in Wanaka only one night, leaving for Makarora the next day.

However, there were weather warnings for strong winds and rains. So, we took one day off.

The next day it was raining pretty heavy, but we got on our bikes anyway. There was a road blockage but it was past Makarora so we planned to at least get there and hope the bloackage is cleared by the time we leave Makarora.

As we were leaving, by chance, Stew checked his email. Our Makarora hotel cancelled on us. The roads are bad and every road to the hotel is blocked due to landslides.

The issue wasn’t expected to be cleared for ~4 days. We booked ourselves an Airbnb to wait out the problem.
