An Update From A Cold And Windy France
Some days on the bike are easy, others stunning, some are plain miserable. Today…well that was a bit of a mixed bag!
The skies are beautiful, bright blue like a postcard picture! The wind however is sharp and cold! Seriously cold. I’ve not known a breeze like it since the “Beast from the East” in February 2018. I’ve been wearing layers-on-layers to keep warm, but the minute the wind calms the temperature quickly rises!
The last few days have been the same – stunning views but very cold in the morning – frost on the cars. It’s too cold for camping that’s for sure. By the afternoon, between 12-3pm it warms up beautifully, but the evening chill draws in quickly!
We’re having a lovely time, the cycling feels like second nature, and the French roads are a treat. They’re flat. Completely flat, so far anyway and they’re quiet!! We’re bemused at the lack of cars on the road. Sometimes we cycle for miles and it’s just us. Peaceful.
The cycle paths are fantastic – smooth roads and stunning views. We’ve spent a lot of time alongside the canal, which has been beautiful!
An insatiable hunger has set in, in the last few days, we’ve eaten so much food and it’s not helping our budgets! It’s got to be done though. We need the fuel!
We’re very tired today, but looking forward to tomorrow.
In 2 nights we join a host in Lyon’s. We’re staying with cousins of the lovely people we met in Arras! We are really looking forward to that. 😊 @ Decize
