Wonderful Hosts In Khiva

I couldn’t possibly move forwards with our Uzbekistan adventures before I introduce you to this beautiful family who we stayed in Khiva.⁣

Their @airbnb was one of our favourites to date. If you strip Airbnb back to what it’s supposed to be, it’s an amazing platform to travel with. ⁣

This family delivered the perfect guest house experience which included 2 nights surrounded by a beautiful Uzbek family. It’s traditional in Uzbekistan for a wife to move in with her husbands parents. This home had 3 generations under one roof. There were 2 young sons who kept us entertained.⁣

We tried so much traditional food, cooked by the 2 wonderful chefs on the left! We ate in the guesthouse for all of our meals which were prepared in the home kitchen. The food served was traditional Uzbek food – and we declare that the best Plov in Uzbekistan is served here. We were fed so well, maybe a little too well – it’s a good job we are cycling a lot! ⁣

The young woman on the right was a fantastic English speaker, actually she was probably my favourite person to meet on the entire trip; such a sweet natured young woman. We asked her so many questions about culture and norms in Uzbekistan- we love finding an English speaker in a new country so we can finally find answers to all the things we’ve been wondering about.⁣

We left their Airbnb with a pang of sadness, but happy hearts. 3 days after our departure there was a dance festival in Khiva and we wished we could’ve stayed for it, but the nature of this trip means you just have to say no to some things. ⁣

We genuinely hope to meet them again someday and they will always be welcome in our home in England. ⁣
