Tashkent, The Capital Of Uzbekistan
After visiting the breathtaking cities of Uzbekistan: Khiva, Samarkand and Bukhara we were excited for Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.
Tashkent isn’t the same as the other Uzbek cities, on the whole I found it to be totally underwhelming, especially for a capital.
The highlight for me was the bazaar, pictured. The hustle and bustle offered some insight into trading life along the Silk Road. The fruits and vegetables were probably the best we’ve been in a long time. Vibrant in colour and hard to resist.
The metro was a pretty special sight, beautifully designed and different to anything I’d seen before.
I have to admit we didn’t dig too much into the sights of Tashkent and I expect much of its charm has gone over my head, but simply put we didn’t really have the energy or desire and it seemed the sights were few and far between.
It seemed like a place that had little to offer, but then a few trips on the metro to reach its attractions might’ve been worth it – the metro itself would serve for a new, appealing experience.
