Sean And Vee
I don’t even know how to write a post about Sean and Vee that does justice to how special they are to us: two people who became so instrumental in our cycling adventure and marriage.
Stew and I booked three calls with potential celebrants but after a call with Sean we cancelled the other two and booked our wedding date.
As it happens, Sean, and his wife Vee (who became our witness), lived near Port Hill. As we were organising the details of our wedding, Sean sent me a link, “Take a look at how close we live to the Port Hills.”
It was a link to their AirBnB.
“Do you think this means Sean would let us stay with him around our wedding date?” I asked Stew.
Surely enough, Sean confirmed his AirBnB link was exactly the not-so-subtle hint I’d hoped for.
Stew and I booked into Sean’s AirBnB in a heartbeat. It just felt right.
Sean went above and beyond his ‘role’ as celebrant. He let us stay with him and his wife, allowed us to post our wedding attire to his home, recommended everything we needed to make the wedding a success and even took us on a tour to help us find the perfect location.
We stayed with Sean and Vee for a couple nights before the wedding. We enjoyed dinner together and they kindly let us leave everything with them on the night of our wedding when we stayed in town, then we stayed with them again for a couple nights after.
I’ve never experienced meeting two people who became so special in such a short amount of time. We went from strangers on a Zoom call to celebrant and bride/groom/customer to friends in less than one month.
Leaving Sean and Vee was one of the hardest goodbyes of the trip. And I don’t think one will be as hard again. I wished they could’ve bought a tandem and come along with us.
I don’t suppose it’s possible to share such a wonderful life moment in such a special whirlwind without becoming quite instrumental in each other’s lives. 💖
