Race Against The Storm
Hari Hari was just 38 miles form Franz Josef. A big storm was brewing, but we figured we could make it there, then take a day off to miss the worst of the storm the next day.
Hari Hari has one shop and it closed at 3pm on a Sunday. We made it just in time.
We cycle apart for most of the day and link back up every so often, either at the top of a hill, before a turn or at random intervals. As we approached Hari Hari in the pouring rain, Stew left me in the dust.
He knew the best chance of catching the store open was if he pressed on without me, and he was right. I was sending him telepathic messages, “go to the shop,” “don’t wait for me.”
I arrived at about 2.55pm, ten minutes after Stew. He was in the store with a basket full of food already.
We got to the cutest Airbnb. The pouring rain came in and it did not stop for a full 24 hours. Thank goodness we made it here and had a cosy spot for the worst of the storm.
