Shelter From The Storm

Our Hari Hari AirBnB was on a dairy farm and used to be used by the workers. We were greeted with a lot of breakfast options including fresh eggs, farm honey and even a pail of milk from the cows that morning 😋

There was a log burner, too. This was literally the perfect place to see out the storm that was brewin’.

We got the place super-cosy, a little too cosy because that log burner really kicked out a lot of heat.

By the evening, yesterdays rain had turned into heavy, heavy rain and extreme winds. There was a full storm with thunder and lightning through the night.

One roll of thunder was so loud it literally shook the house. It felt a bit scary and kept us awake for a while.

I looked at recorded earthquakes the next morning, but nothing was recorded in our area. It was definitely the thunder clap that shook our AirBnB!

However, there were at least four other earthquakes though which is how I learned that the earth really does shake a lot in New Zealand.

The high winds and storm continued on for the entire day and started to pass by 4pm.

Then, the next day, in what seems to be typical NZ fashion, beautiful blue skies again 😍
