Our cycling route through France
The map above shows the route we cycled through France. We entered France from the UK on the ferry from Dover and exited on the southern coast in Italy.
Overall we really enjoyed cycling in France, the roads surface we very good and in general the roads were very quite with very little traffic. Our route also included many excellect traffic-free cycle paths. We expected Paris to be very challenging to nagivate by bicycle as we knew there would be a lot of traffic, however we were pleasently surprised to find that the cycle paths in Paris were excellent! We spent very little time on the roads with cars and overall felt very safe cycling in the city.
You will notice a rather large straight line between Arras and Paris, unfortunatly Stew picked up an Ankle injury on the second day in France and we had to take the train to Paris. Ordinaraily we would have waiting around to recover in Arras but we'd already booked non refundable accomodation in Paris and couldn't afford to lose the money so early into the tour. Our circumnavigation was always Paris to Paris anyway so we didn't feel to bad about missing this short section before our official start point.
