Our cycling route through Argentina
The map above shows the route we cycled through Argentina. We crossed into Argentina over the Andres from Chile and cycled out into Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil.
Our route through Argentina took us from the top of the Andes, down through the vast deserts and out into the flat lands which at the time were the hottest place on earth.
We absouletly loved our time in Argentina, I think a big contributing factor here is that we had spent a lot of time learning Spanish during the covid intermision but also because Argentina is very beautiful country.
The ability to speak Spanish really leveled up the travelling experience for us, in every other non-english speaking country we’ve had to rely on locals to speak english or the use of Google translate. It was so refreshing and rewarding to finally be able to speak to local people. We are by no means fluent but we have enough to get by and it was amazing.
Another reason we loved Argentina was Ruta 40. For me Ruta 40 IS cycle touring! Ruta 40 is a road that runs from the northern border or Argentina all the way down to Rio Gallegos on the southern Chile/Argentina border. It is a very popular route for motorcycle riders and cyclists and for me it was everything I have ever wanted from a cycling route road.
