On This Day 1 Year Ago

On this day, 1 year ago I went on a bike ride with a boy.

This time last year I asked Stewart if he had plans for the weekend. He was cycling the highest pass in Wales!

I was impressed, “I would love to do that!!!”

Stewart invited me along and I warned him I might be slow!

Stew picked me up 2 days later and he drove us to Lake Vrynwy where the ride started. We cycled around 30 miles that day, and some of those miles were challenging! I enjoyed myself so much, part way through I started to hope this was a date!

I asked Stew if he could map in a cake shop, but there weren’t any on route. When we got to the car Stew had cream cakes waiting for me because he didn’t want me to be disappointed. This small gesture was so kind and I felt special. I started to think…”yes! this is a date!”

We drove home and I wondered if this lovely, seemingly quiet man would ask me on a “proper date”…days later, Stew invited me to dinner at a restaurant of my choice! We went out that Friday and enjoyed wine and tapas. The next day Stew moved in (yes really!)

One year later we are 8 days into a world cycling tour where we will circumnavigate the world by bike. A wonderful experience.

I am so grateful to have met a man who complements me so well. Stew is my boyfriend, my greatest supporter, my best friend, my fellow bike tourer.
