Meeting Cheryl

How wonderful it was to finally meet @‌ourworldbyus.

Stew and I have been following Cheryl for YEARS. We watched as she travelled New Zealand in her van and hoped to meet her one day.

I was thrilled when we were able to get a meet in the diary even though it had been over three years since we were chatting regularly online.

Cheryl picked us up from our AirBnB in Christchurch and took us on a ‘tiki tour.’ I had to Google what tiki tour meant, is it a new concept to you, too?

A tiki tour is NZ slang and it basically means a scenic tour without a real plan. We were going to meander around Christchurch and surrounding areas.

Cheryl took us to Sumner beach where we enjoyed ice cream, then drove us around Lyttleton Bay. This was actually really special as it was exactly what we could see from the Sign of the Bellbird where we got married so we really explored the area where we said our ‘I dos.’

The three of us got on brilliantly, a super-easy meeting which isn’t always how it is when you meet a total stranger from the gram 😋

It was pretty special meeting Cheryl, conversations with her on Instagram actually changed my life. She had recommended that I try Upwork (a freelancing platform) back when we were in Vietnam, and I did. It changed the direction of my career forever and now we work and travel. All because of a connection on Insta! Pretty special, no? 😁
