JOGLE Day 6: Fort William To Lochearnhead
Fort William to Lochearnhead
After such a hard day yesterday, today was exactly what we needed!
Essentials first – a good breakfast, thanks to our host we had quite a choice – cereals, fruits, snack bars and a coffee! Then we headed out early and started with an easy cycle path!
We took regular breaks and I’m reminded that fuelling properly makes the biggest difference.
Today we headed into the mountains along the A82. We climbed up to the top of Ranoch moor and cycled between the mountains for 20 Miles. Unfortunately we got hit by a massive head wind as we left the moor. We struggled on for a couple of miles barely making 9 mph.
We stopped outside a corner shop of all places – just to grab some water, but we ended up chilling there for 45 minutes!! The last 20 Miles were a joy! Thanks to the Irn-Bru we drank we had a major sugar rush, so we were pretty speedy!
A great day and just what I needed – and a lesson learned – before I knew that fuelling correctly was important…now I really know!!
Our Airbnb is absolutely perfect tonight, it was no surprise that our host was a Superhost. It was one of the more expensive rooms at £74.64, but it was so so worth it! Here it is for anyone travelling that way! The bedroom is huge, the host is generous, kind, super friendly and full of historical and local knowledge. She pointed us to a lovely place for dinner where we tried Oysters and enjoyed Fish and Chips!
