Headwind, Headwind, And You Guessed It, More Headwind.
Ain’t nothing more demoralising then pushing a headwind for 80 miles over two days. Working really hard for 7mph 😪
Despite that, we escaped any rain and overall, actually, we had a lovely day! Here’s our day in pictures…
BEAUTIFUL VIEWS
After a steady but long climb we got to enjoy some lovely views from the top. Thanks to the wind the temperature was perfect for climbing. I enjoyed every turn on the pedal, and every inch of incline!
DOWNHILL
I think it’s always a tough call when you’re going down a stunning descent: do you stop for photographs or just absorb the experience?
Lucky for me Stew had already stopped to take photos so I took the opportunity to soak in the stunning downhills.
I can’t even put into words what a perfect downhill on a smooth road does for my soul. It is just a gift from life, a real treat and it just makes me so happy! As they say, the best things in life are free!
ALL THE FOOD
The insatiable hunger is well and truly back!! We feel so good now thanks to fellow bike packers who’ve given us some great advice for eating well on the road!
MEET ANISSA
Anissa was our Airbnb host last night, she was just lovely! We were struggling to find Anissa’s home on arrival and she ended up driving 3km to find us – what an angel! She let us wash our clothes, fed us very well this morning and sent us away with her homemade brioche 👌🏼😋
Another lovely day on the road, we are really keen to start camping now, but we want the weather to improve just a smidge, it’s threatening storms.
