My Face Isn’t Sunburnt. I’ve Just Climbed A Massive Hill.
Stew said that’s the reddest my face has been since our first bike ride and the first time we climbed The Long Mynd, Shropshire.
It was hard; first gear out of the saddle hard.
Throughout that entire climb, approximately 1.5 miles of climbing, steep climbing… that savage little voice in my head is there.
Where does that come from?
“You can’t do this.”
“I can, I’ve climbed like this before”
“Never in this heat, never on a loaded bike. Just push.”
I CAN. I WILL. I DID. What’s next?
Your brain will be the first to tell you, you can’t. Your brain is the protective parent. The brain wants to keep the body safe and it doesn’t want to put the body in harms way.
The brain is over-protective and sometimes the brain is wrong.
In my experience, only exercise can teach you what your capable of and how strong you are. Your body will surpass the expectations of your mind, every time. Challenge it and learn to stand up to yourself.
