Chinese “Superbad” Cops

From Shanshan we had 300kms (180) miles of nothing.

In Stew’s words: we made it across 200 miles of dessert in only 2 days thanks to a 100 mph joy ride from the police yesterday evening. When you think about you getting a ride with the police you probably imagine it’s a very serious and professional experience… well not so much in China. We were speeding down the motorway at 100 mph with no seatbelts on with the red and blue lights on, using the sirens to clear cars out of way and listening to loud dance music and all while they smoke cigarettes with the windows up. It’s was pretty much like the cops from the movie Superbad.

Unfortunately we arrived at an unexpected check point in the middle of nowhere at about 17:30 and they knew we wouldn’t make it to the next town before dark (It was 80 miles away) and camping isn’t allowed here so we had to let them give us a lift.
