Back On The Road After A Break In The Weather
Good things come to those who wait.
Today we said goodbye to the snow with a very beautiful bike ride.
When we got to Tanchang I was absolutely full of joy – the pedals turned effortlessly!
In recent years I’ve really understood and appreciated the meaning of “good things come to those who wait”.
I used to think about this phrase in conjunction with “the early bird gets the worm” and think, well which one is it!? Okay maybe I thought about this too much, but my dad used to say both of them…okay…stay with me…
In the last couple years I worked in an amazing company, a leading digital agency in Shrewsbury and I had a manager who was around the same age as me but she was super super composed and I really respected her.
I’m not naturally composed, but I’ve learnt and a lot of that comes from watching her approach to life’s surprises! So thank you (you know who you are! 🥰)
A world cycling tour thrives with composure and patience.
Sometimes you’ve just got to WAIT. Wait out the sickness, wait out the bad weather and focus on controlling what you can.
In order to wait with patience you need hope and faith. For example we choose to wait out the weather, with the faith that we will still get out of China before our visa ends (it’s getting tight, but it’s doable.)
One of my greatest life lessons to date is realising that you can’t control everything and it won’t always go your way. There’s great power in letting go, leaning into life and finding peace in the situations as they present themselves.
What’s even better is being open to opportunities as they come. If you’re focused on controlling everything to suit your plan you can, potentially, miss all the great things around you.
