Adventure In Tandem

We’d been speaking with @adventure.in.tandem for a while on Instagram and when we realised they were travelling west through Azerbaijan we were keen to cross paths! Yesterday was the day and I’d spent most of the morning looking out for a blue tandem 😍⁣

We crossed paths just 11 miles into our ride and conveniently at the top of the first hill. I think we lost 1-2 hours chatting and laughing away! If we’d have been in a village or town we would’ve definitely grabbed a coffee with them. Justin and Cara lived in China for 4 years while Cara studied Chinese. (I resisted the urge to ask her to speak Chinese as it felt like everyone must ask that haha!) In China they were warmshowers hosts. They first heard about this trip/route after hosting other travellers. They decided if their guests could do it so could they! They set off from Thailand after a break in the USA for Christmas and now they’re in Azerbaijan with a rough plan to reach Barcelona, but not without first flying to the USA to catch a friends wedding.⁣

Cara and Justin told us about the street baker at the bottom of the mountain, we stopped by for some freshly baked bread.

We absolutely love that they’re riding tandem, this time last year Stew and I hired tandem for the first time. Since then we’ve done a lot of bike rides together (obviously) but that one is a firm favourite. I often dream about buying our first tandem when we go home!
