⁣Phonsavan, My Favourite Place In Laos So Far

At first it was just a dusty street with cafes and a few shops, but if you looked around you could find some spectacular sights! Slide through to see how unexploded missiles are used in Laos, and for perspective see Stew (6ft4 / 193cms) stood next to one.⁣

I loved the ambience of Phonsavan. It was quiet and peaceful. ⁣

I loved the guesthouse we stayed in, KongKeo. We shared the space with other travellers and we loved sharing stories with them. We were recommended to stay here by Angela and Teinhard who we’d met a few days before. ⁣

There was a communal area to enjoy a beer – look at the first picture, on the left – a missile used as a fire pit! We didn’t even see it until the second day.⁣

As soon as the sun went down, a fire was started and we all sat together drinking beer. ⁣

In the evening a group of us headed out to dinner. By this point we’d realised that Laos food was actually really great! I was expecting nothing but noodle soup (don’t even know where that assumption came from!) but Laos has treated us to fried rice, stews, curries, fried vegetables and more!⁣

The pictures of us were taken by Neil, a British cyclist, sat in the front in picture one. We were both heading in opposite directions so we were able to give each other tips about what’s ahead. ⁣

We stayed in touch with 4 guests from KongKeo and we’ve got them pinned on our maps as we pass so close to their homes in the USA! One of the American guests is trying to convince us to ride to washing DC. She lives there and we come so close we might have to pay her a visit!⁣
