Our cycling route through Cambodia

The map above shows the route we cycled through Cambodia. We entered Cambodia from the Vietnam through the Krong Bavet border crossing and exited on the west into Thailand through the Poi Pet border.

Cambodia was a pleasent country to cycle through, the roads are very smooth, the traffic is light (with the exception of Phnom Penh) and the route we took was very flat. We had a 50/50 mix of head winds and tail winds with the wind changing on a daily basis. The most difficult part of riding through Cambodia is the heat, the ambient temperature was passing 40°c every day and the wind was hot too.

We found it best to start riding at sunrise and aim to be off the bikes by 11am at which point the temperature became unbearable. Stew got heat stroke several times due to the midday heat and each time we had to call it quits for the day and head to the nearest hotel or guest house.
