One Year On The Road

On this day, one year ago, we stepped off a plane from the UK and landed in Ho Chi Minh.

With the inclusion of the first phase, we’ve been cycling around the world, while working, for TWO years.

In 2019/2020, we set off on two steel frame touring bikes.

Back then, we were in a new relationship, just months into dating.

We cycled ~13,000 miles from Telford, England to Nha Trang, Vietnam.

We set out to circumnavigate the world by bike.

Covid sent us on the last plane home in March 2020.

Our dream of cycling around the world was over (for a while).

We moved to Scotland for micro adventures and waited three years.

I knew we’d finish what we started, but Stew wasn’t confident.

Finally, 28th February 2023 rolled around and we flew back to Vietnam.

We booked the exact same apartment block we left in 2020 and started again.

Between then and now we’ve cycled through 10 countries: Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Argentina…and now we’re in Brazil.

We eloped in New Zealand. 💍

Pretty soon, we’ll be on a flight from Rio De Janeiro to Lisbon, Portugal; the home run begins😅

From there, we’ll cycle Portugal, Spain, France, then home (wherever home is) in England.

The official end point is Arc De Triomphe, Paris.

The end is nearly here.

And it’s a weird, weird feeling.

Our entire relationship has known this bike trip; Stew asked me to join him just one month into dating.

We celebrated our first anniversary in Paris 😍 and made countless more milestones and memories from our @genesisbikesuk.

With saving and planning It’s been a six year project for me and an eight year project for Stew 😲

Truth be told, we have had the best 6 years of our lives, even with a pandemic chucked in the middle.

How will our future compete with this?

Well, I don’t know, but I strongly believe that life has more to offer us than we could ever imagine.

So, for now, we’ll enjoy the rest of our adventure.

We plan to keep working, learning and travelling. We want a flexible life, so life has a chance to show us what’s next.

It sounds cliche, but don’t let anything get in the way of your dreams.
