Charyn Canyon, Kazakhstan
For the first time we woke up with ice on the outer tent. ICE!
We had slept soundly in the tent and our super Rab Ascent 500 bags had kept us plenty warm enough (I highly recommend this bag!)
Stew dealt with the tent and I prepared hot porridge and a cuppa. We set off by 09:00 and made tracks to Charyn Canyon.
It turns out we’d cycled the rougher roads the day before and the downhill into the Canyon was beautiful! The air was ice cold and crisp, the wind was behind us when we climbed out and the skies were perfectly clear blue. It was gorgeous.
I was so happy we hadn’t pushed on to arrive in the dark. We were able to enjoy the Canyon so much more. We hung around for 2 hours admiring the views and eating lunch.
We then proceeded to ride 68 miles into the dark before finding a hotel that cost just £5.00 for the two of us!
Bargain!
On this day we were also treated to some of the most beautiful colours – the Sky was gorgeous.
We have @adventure.in.tandem ‘s YouTube channel to thank for the heads up to visit this great place! Highly recommend – it was just £1.50 each to visit and camping is permitted.
