Cafe Stops In China
This has to be one of the main reasons why I love cycle touring.
I know that if I had flown to China with no experience I would look at a little cafe like this and refuse to go inside.
When we walked past this little place, which was essentially in a garage, we looked at each other and said “that looks pretty clean!” Oh how standards have changed, but let me tell you – that place IS VERY clean – see the final picture of a very dirty place for comparison – we ate there too.
This place was abnormally clean for the price of the food. Our large bowls of noodles cost just £0.98p each – and we both left well fed and happy!
When you travel by bicycle like this you essentially live in your countries rather than visit them. Eating a meal is something you have to do rather than an indulgent 2 hour experience in a fancy place.
We love it, cycling through the towns and villages, rolling into whatever shop or cafe we can find and taking it at face value.
I suppose that was our Christmas Eve meal! Not quite the cheese & biscuits followed by a film with a glass of baileys but we thoroughly enjoyed it.
What are your Christmas Eve traditions? I’d love to hear some.
