You can trust us. We only review items we use on long-distance cycle trips or hikes. Or, items that made the shortlist for our trip's kit list; all items were heavily researched by us.
The Anker Powercore 20100 travelled 13,000 miles with us, from the UK to Vietnam. We absolutely loved it. We took two power banks on the trip and still use one to this day. Unfortunately, the other got left on a train somewhere in Scotland!
Anker produces top-notch power banks. They're unbelievably high quality. We've ended up investing in the Anker Powercore 20100 which we'll review here and the Anker Powerbank 325. Zoe bought the 325 for her brother for Christmas and he also highly rates it.
Anker Powercore 20100 Rating
The Anker Powercore 20100 rating has an overall rating of 5/5 stars from us. The pros far outweigh the cons.
Anker PowerCore 20100
Anker PowerCore 20100 - 20000mAh Ultra High Capacity Power Bank with Powerful 4.8A Output, PowerIQ Technology for iPhone 7/6s/SE, iPad and Samsung Galaxy S8/S7 and more. I once dropped an Anker power bank down two flights of stairs. It fell the whole way down and survived with a small amount of cosmetic damage. It's been five years and it still works.
View ProductOur experience with the Anker Powercore 20100
We've owned an Anker Powercore 20100 for almost 5 years. That power bank has been with us as we cycled across 21 countries. It's been used in -6 degrees celsius and up to 40 degrees Celsius. It's survived some pretty rocky roads and it's been shoved in and out the bottom of pannier bags. I’ve taken it climbing, on the train and plan, out on the bike and so much more.
One time our Anker Powercore 20100 fell directly down two flights of stairs and lived the tell the tale. This thing is seriously robust.

View ProductWhy you should buy the Anker Powercore 20100
Many power banks will do what they say they will; charge your devices. So why should you pick a high-end power bank like the Powercore 20100?
To that, I say:
- It has a huge battery capacity of 20,000 mAh
- You can charge 2 devices at once without sacrificing speed or power
- The robust design means it's highly unlikely to break so it's very reliable
As soon as you hold the Anker Powercore you will feel very comfortable in your decision to buy. It feels really sturdy in your hand. Although it is long and quite heavy the slim, smooth design distracts from that, making it feel like a nice size to hold.
The design is sleek and attractive. The charge within the power back is clear with eye-catching blue LED lights. The lights flicker on when the device is charging and stop when it's full. There are four tiers and four lights, so you'll know when your device has approximately 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% charge.
