5 Inspirational Cycling Documentaries
Here's a quick collection of excellent cycling documentaries that we like to watch when we're looking for a bit of inspiration. We've included the links below so you can find our favorite biking documentaries on Netflix. Prime or YouTube. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
Mark Beaumont
The Man Who Cycled the World
A four part documentry series that follows a young, 24 year old Mark Beaumont as he attempts to break the Guinness world record for cycling around the world unsupported in 2007.
The documentry is filmed by Mark as he undertakes this enourmous 18,000 mile ride around the entire globe.
This is one of my favourite documentaries and always leaves me yearning for life on the road.
This can be a difficult documentry to find as I think it's owned by the BBC. They occasionaly air it on TV or make it available on iPlayer. You can also find it on Youtube, although the quality and fidelity may be lacking.

Sean Conway
Europe or Bust
Another great documentary by endurance athlete Sean Conway that follows his 2nd attempt to break the world record for “fastest unsupported crossing of Europe”.

Mark Beaumont
The Man Who Cycled the Americas
A three part documenty series that follows a young Mark Beaumont as he attempts to cycle 15,000 miles unsupported from the top of North America to the bottom of South America.
This is where it all started for me, one night in the early 2000's I couldn't sleep so I flicked on the TV around midnight and found this documentry series ariring on BBC4. I wasn't a cyclist at the time but I was left amazed that anyone could even dream of attempting to do such a journey let alone to it alone and on a bicycle. I've come back to this documentry again and again, it's an epic journey and a fantastic series.
This can also be a difficult documentry to find as I think it's owned by the BBC. They occasionaly air it on TV or make it available on iPlayer. You can also find it on Youtube, although the quality and fidelity may be lacking.

The Transcontinental Race
A short documentary that follows riders as they tackle the trans-continental race, an epic 3,000+km unsupported race across the width of Europe.
The documentary crew follow riders as the desperately try to reach the end of this enormous journey before the cut-off date, sleeping rough, riding through the night and doing whatever it takes to each the glory of ‘finisher’.

Love on a Bike
A brilliant documentry created by Tom Allen (of Tom's Bike Trip) that follows him and his friends as they head out on their bikes for the trip of a life time.
A journey of many highs and lows, twists and turns. I highly recommend this one!
