Road to Frame - The Adventure Blog
Today could’ve been the best day possible, but we were faced with some adversity. First of all Stew’s rear light stopped working and secondly I fell over … TWICE! A bit of a bloody knee, and nice bruise on the left leg, but nothing our AMAZING AirBnB host Hilary couldn’t solve!
we started to question our 65mile a day plan, we’ve decided that it is a little ambitious this early on in the trip. Whilst is is do-able and we are happy doing it, we’re our for 9 hours a day just to do 65 miles.
The weather to Chinnor was just perfect. It was a Monday - and honestly I was not missing the office and usual influx of Monday morning emails. This was bliss. The pictures barely do the day justice!
This week, we left Stew’s mum’s home in Telford and began our 24,000 mile bike ride across the world.
On the 31st March Zoe and I will be leaving Telford to try and circumnavigate the planet on our bikes.
Our 24,000 bike ride was sparking interest in charity, so we decided to cycle the world in loving memory of my best friend, Leanne Brownhill who we sadly lost in 2013, aged 26.
Here is our approximate itinerary, it is inevitable that this will change over time but should be a good rough guide to where we will be through the year.
International cycling likely means you're going to need to think about vaccinations. Vaccinations sometimes need multiple doses within a time window, so good planning is essential. Some vaccinations you can get on the NHS, and others you will need to pay for. Read our experiences/thoughts on vaccinations.
I have spent more than 2 years working on a 24,000 mile, turn by turn route around the entire planet. The task has been a challenge to say the least, with many countries having very poor road markings on google earth no street view I've relied heavily on satellite maps and open street maps to construct this route. I had no choice but to manually map all 3,128 miles across China as the mapping provided by Google maps is horrible inaccurate, this country alone took more than 3 month to map!
